Ajay Kumar Gehlawat is a highly accomplished technology leader with over 20 years of industry experience and 25 US patents. He is currently the Sr. Director - Ad Tech at Dailyhunt, where he runs one of the most sophisticated publisher-owned ad recommendation and serving systems in the country. Ajay has acquired and built teams, led product development for software at top companies like Sun Microsystems, Adobe, Quark, Accenture, Microsoft, and Yahoo, and has operated high-throughput ML systems up to 70K RPS with over a billion events daily. Ajay has a solid foundation in web scale from his early days at Sun Microsystems, where he earned 25 patents. He has also led large technology teams for location and ML technologies at Pitney Bowes and Microsoft. At Microsoft, he leveraged machine learning and latest search technology techniques to help Bing compete effectively in local search in international English markets. He also built the first-party health and fitness application pre-deployed on Microsoft Windows 7.5. In addition to his experience in large companies, Ajay has over 5 years of startup/SAAS/online experience for developing operability and cost of ownership intuition. He has been a head of technology in media, hospitality distribution, and education verticals for RateGain, 9.9 Media & ClassGrid, and created horizontal practices for UX, Machine Learning, Data & Analytics for Pitney Bowes. Ajay has also been a technology transformation executive for RateGain, Pitney Bowes, Yahoo, and many others. Ajay has a strong educational background, having completed his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College and his high school education from RIMC Dehradun. Ajay's expertise includes ML, decentralized tech, search, information retrieval, web, recommendation systems, Android, iOS, and backend technologies. He is always on the lookout for great product engineers who consider their yesterday's winning work as not good enough per their current understanding.
